Do not sell or share my personal information
California and several other states give you the right to stop your information being sold or shared for targeted advertising. This page explains what that means here and how to exercise it.
Draft — not yet reviewed
A scaffold, not reviewed text. The categories below have to be confirmed against the tracking that is actually live before this page can be relied on, and the opt-out request form arrives with the server route that ships alongside the CMS. Until then the email route below works.
Placeholder draft — no effective date until counsel signs it off.
What "sell" and "share" mean here
We do not sell personal information for money. We do, however, use advertising and analytics tags that pass identifiers to platforms such as Google and Meta, and under California law that can count as sharing for cross-context behavioural advertising. This page is how you switch it off.
What we do and do not do
- We do not sell your name, phone number or email to anyone, in any circumstances
- We do share online identifiers and browsing signals with advertising platforms through tags on this site
- We do not use sensitive personal information to infer characteristics about you
- [Exact categories to be confirmed against the tags that are live at launch]
How to opt out
Two routes, and either one is enough on its own. Reject advertising cookies in the cookie settings [banner and footer link ship with the CMS], which stops the sharing in your browser immediately. Or write to hello@hudds.org with the subject line "Do not sell or share" and we will apply it to every record we hold about you.
Authorised agents and verification
Somebody may make the request for you if you give them written permission and we can verify it. For an opt-out we ask only for enough information to find you; we will not use anything you send for a verification request for any other purpose.
What happens next
We confirm receipt within 10 business days and complete the request within 15 business days of receiving it. If we need longer we will tell you why.
Your other rights
- To know what personal information we have collected about you and where it came from
- To have it corrected if it is wrong, or deleted, subject to the exceptions the statute allows
- To limit how we use sensitive personal information
- Not to be discriminated against for exercising any of these — our pricing and service do not change because you did
